We are looking to develop a new, low cost small LED Solar lamp with rechargeable batteries (NiCd or NiMh). The lamp has a very simple design and has to be very cost effective to get the volumes of sales.

The lamp size will be 150mm (L) x (100mm (W) x 80mm (H).

The solar panel will be separate to the LED lamp and connect to the lamp via a male / female elctrical pin in the solar lamp housing which will be plastic.

The total LED light output will be 0.90w and run on a series of 3.6v 600mAh NiCd or NiMh batteries.

The lamp has to provide continuous lighting for 5-6 hours per day and the batteries must get fully charged in 6 hours of daylight to full power.

We can also use recycled plastic to make this lamp to lower costs.

A reflector will have to be included in the lamp and the outside cover must have a diffuser to help throw the light outwards (we do not want the spot light effect).

If it helps to bring the cost down, we can use ready moulds / plastic casing from any old design of lamps which are existing. Then there will be no mold costs. The size we have given is approximate only. We can make the size smaller or larger - whichever way to make a very competitive product.
